Area students receive scholarships

A new college scholarship fund has been established for graduating high school students. The Montiford and Mary Beck Doupe Scholarship Fund is a trust fund, administered by Cherokee State Bank, for the purpose of awarding tuition scholarships to students entering the medical field. The fund is open to any graduating high school student living in Cherokee County. This year's scholarship is $5000 per student. The initial recipients of the fund have been announced.
