CORRECTIONVILLE - The River Valley softball team pocketed three recent home wins, defeating Lawton-Bronson 6-4, nipping Ridge View 1-0 in eight innings, and prevailing 2-0 over Maple Valley/Anthon-Oto.
Kelli Miller got the pitching win over Lawton-Bronson, allowing two earned runs on five hits and striking out five in seven innings of work.
Kari Ludvigson and Lexi Chester had two hits and two RBI apiece to lead the Wolverines at the plate, with Ludvigson also scoring three times. Sarah Byers had two hits and one RBI for the winners.
Miller shut out the explosive Ridge View offense on just three hits and one walk, and struck out six in eight innings of work.
Ludvigson singled in Abbie Miller, who had singled to account for River Valley's game-winning run in the eighth inning. Mackenzie Fitch had two hits for the Wolverines.
Jamie Christensen took the hard-luck pitching loss for the Raptors, giving up one unearned run on five hits and no walks.
Kaitlin Wulf, Brea Slaybaugh, and Emily Schiernbeck had the hits for Ridge View.
Miller again was a force on the mound in the 2-0 win over MVAO, allowing no runs on three hits and striking out six in seven innings.
Miller also helped her cause with an RBI single scoring Chester who had singled and advanced on a single by Byers. Jessica Fundermann also scored for RV.
The River Valley girls play at Odebolt-Arthur/Battle Creek-Ida Grove tonight, at Kingsley-Pierson Friday, and at the Remsen-Union Tournament on Saturday.
