QUIMBY--It's time once again for the streets of Quimby to fill with crowds of people looking to enjoy 'a slice of the good life,' and while they're at it, a slice of good watermelon as well.

This weekend, the town of Quimby will be celebrating their annual Watermelon Days June 25 and 26 with a plethora of opportunities for fun for the entire family.

Friday evening, take a chance to dance with lady luck and enter the cash drawings provided by Central Bank. Drawings for $20 will take place at 7 p.m. 8 p.m. and 9 p.m., and $25 at $10 and 10:30 p.m. You must be present to win.

And sticking around for the drawing won't be a problem with all the entertainment available.

The infamous Bingo stand will once again bring the thrill of victory and agony of defeat to those listening to the numbers being called both evenings of the Watermelon Days event.

Also present both evenings will be the thrilling, and at times rides of the McDermott Family Shows. From toddlers to teens to thrill-seeking adults, the shows offer rides and games for all ages and stomach abilities.

And of course, Watermelon Days offers several opportunities to fill your stomach with delicious foods.

A cake walk will take place at 1 p.m. on Saturday for those looking to satisfy their sweet tooth, and in the evening, a food stand will once again be serving taverns, pies, and a wide variety of other scrumptious goodies at the Quimby Community Center.

The goodies can also be found on the Midway. From cotton candy to corn dogs, attendees of the two-day event will have no excuse to leave hungry. Whether you choose to munch on a funnel cake between games of ski-ball or sip a lemonade before the ring-toss, the Midway offers plenty of opportunities for food and fun.

But what would Watermelon Days be without the juicy watermelon. Bring your forks and napkins at 8 p.m. on Saturday evening as hundreds of pounds of watermelon will be handed out to the hungry-and-waiting crowds.

After all the food, quench your thirst at the Quimby Fire Station where the Quimby Fire Department will once again be serving beverages at the beer garden.

For those of you who are early birds rather than night owls, the town of Quimby will also be hosting its city-wide garage sales over the weekend for those looking to find a new treasure.

Come down to Quimby this weekend, ignore the wet weather, and grab some watermelon while you enjoy a weekend of fun, Friday and Saturday at the Quimby Watermelon Days.
