Recently the Cherokee Depot Renovation Incorporated, along with the Little Sioux Valley Model Railroad HO Scale, received a donation of a Prisoners Of War/Missing In Action HO Scale train set from "Jungle" Jim Gano of Cherokee. Gano donated this special gift in honor of the McManus Brothers of Cherokee. Harry and O.C. McManus both served on the U.S.S. Houston during WWII, and both were Prisoners of War.

Gano stated that he donated the train set in part to honor Harry and O.C. as a way of not forgetting them and the hardship the brothers endured during their captivity by the Japanese, and also to keep the P.O.W. issue alive.

Here's a closer look at the HO Scale model train set that Jungle Jim Gano recently donated to the Cherokee Depot and the Little Sioux Valley Railroad. The set will be housed at the Cherokee Depot. Photo by Mike Leckband
