Had RV won the game, they would have qualified for the conference tournament with a number four seed.
RV batters could manage just one hit, struck out 12 times, and in general "made it difficult on ourselves by not putting the ball in play," said RV coach Dean Norris.
Kelli Miller pitched entire game for RV, allowing six hits and three runs over six innings, while striking out six. Offensively, Jessica Fundermann had the only hit and RBI for the Wolverines, while Fundermann started another double play at second base and Bailey Fitch made two nice defensive plays in left field.
RV coach Dean Norris said the loss was difficult to accept because "we battled all season to put ourselves in position, and then play this way when it matters the most."
River Valley's record now stands at 9-11 and 6-8 in the conference, with a first round regional matchup with K-P at Kingsley coming up on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
