Take a spin with speeding Go-Karts and watch the metal-crunching action of the Demolition Derby on Saturday, July 10 at the Cherokee County Fair.
The Hot Laps Go-Kart Races will start their engines and take the turns around the 1/8-mile track at 6 p.m. on the Cherokee County Karters Speedway on the south end of the fair grounds.
More than $750 will be distributed to the top places in four classes: Stock medium, Stock heavy, Animal 390, and Clone.
Prior to the July 10 races, Hot Laps will also host races on Saturday, July 3 at 6 p.m. at the Speedway.
The entry fee for the Fair Race is $30, $5 for a pit pass.
As the flags fly over the go-karts, the demolition derby will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Main Arena of the fair grounds.
There will be two age classes as part of the demolition derby, one for 16 and 17 year old drivers and the other for drivers 18 and older.
Drivers participating in the 16 and 17 year old class must pre-register online at www.cherokeecountyfair.org.
For the 18 and older participants, there will be a non-weld class and a non-weld compact class. In the non-weld class, more than $2,500 will be awarded during the heat, consolation and feature heats. More than $1,500 will be divided among the participants in the heat, consolation and feature heats of the non-weld compact class.
The entry fee is $50 per car and driver, pit crews at $20 each.
To appease your appetite during the high speed and hard collision events, the Cherokee County Pork Producers will be grilling pork burgers by the Main Arena beginning at 4 p.m. A Beer Garden will also be open for refreshments. No coolers will be allowed at the events.
