Do you know how to give CPR to a dog? Are you well-versed in large animal anatomy?
If your answer is "no," the Cherokee County Fair will be hosting a chance to learn.
The Iowa Medical Veterinary Association will be hosting a Vet Camp from 1- 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 10 as part of the Cherokee County Fair celebration.
Youth ages 14-18 years old and interested in persuring a career in Veterinary Medicine are welcome to sign up for the camp, where local veterinarians and current veterinary students will put on several demonstrations and teaching sessions.
The sessions include demonstrations of physical exams on small animals, CPR for dogs, suturing, blood drawing, and numerous other interesting veterinary-related topics.
There is no admission charge for the Vet Camp, although it does not include the cost of admission to the fair.
Registration for the camp is limited to 30 participants.
The Vet Camp is sponsored by the IVMA, the IVMA Foundation, and the North Central Iowa VMA.
The IVMA is a non-profit, member-service organization dedicated to promoting the veterinary profession through continuing education, publications and advocacy.
