HOLSTEIN - The Ridge View Raptors split two recent home baseball games played in Holstein, falling 8-3 to East Sac County, and defeating Kingsley-Pierson 12-2 in five innings.
Josh Mohr got the pitching loss agaiinst East Sac County, allowing two runs on five hits and five strikeouts in five innings of work. Kyle Wessling pitched one inning and gave up one hit and struck out one, and Seth Johnson pitched one inning and posted no line.
Travis Hoeppner had two hits and two RBI to pace the Raptors, while Taylor Radke had a hit and scored a run, and Johnson had a hit and one RBI.
"We kicked the ball around in this one," said Ridge View coach Shannon Tesch. "Only two of their runs were earned. It's unfortunate to pitch well enough to win, but have our defense let us down. We need to make plays to win games."
Wessling got the win over K-P, allowing two runs on six hits and three Ks in five innings of work.
Mohr was 2-3 with a run scored, and Travis Hoppner 1-1 with two RBI and a run scored to pace the Raptors on offense. Ausxtin Graff had a hit, RBI and two runs scored, and Johnson was 1-2 with two RBI and a run scored.
"We played well," said tesch. "Kyle pitched well and we played good defense behind him. I was happy with our patience at the plate."
The Ridge View boys now boast a 10-13 overall record and stand 7-7 in the Western Valley Conference.
