Luminary donations accepted

Monday, July 12, 2010

A special part of the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life of Cherokee County, a team event to fight cancer, will be the poignant luminary ceremony at dusk, Friday, August 6, at Koser Spring Lake Park in Cherokee.

Candles inside of luminary bags will illuminate the walking path around beautiful Spring Lake. Each bag will carry a message of remembrance, a prayer of thanks or words of hope.

Local organizers ask area residents to please join them in this worthwhile event that also includes many entertainment venues and food and refreshments for the all-night Relay For Life Friday, through Saturday at Koser Spring Lake Park.

Those interested can fill out a Relay For Life

Luminary Order Form and make checks payable to: American Cancer Society.

Mail to: Myla Stoneking, 1608 Susan Avenue, Cherokee, IA 51012

All proceeds from luminary sales go to the American Cancer Society to be used for research, education, advocacy and patient services.

A donation of $10 is suggested.
