GALVA - The Ridge View softball team lost another heart-breaker here at the Raptors' field Thursday in the 1st round of 2A Regional action to South Central Calhoun County, by the score of 6-5.
Taking the loss on the mound was senior Jaime Christensen, who pitched all 7 innings, giving up 6 runs with 2 being earned, and giving up 7 hits while striking out 5 and walking 2.
Leading the way at the plate for the Raptors was freshmen catcher Dana
Hustedt, who went 2-4 with 2 doubles and had 1 RBI. Also having RBI for
the Raptors were Brea Slaybaugh, Emily Schiernbeck and Jaime Christensen.
The coaches and the kids were disappointed in the loss, their ninth one-run game of the season.
"The kids played hard, but our defense let us down at crucial times," said Ridge View coach Scott Phelps. "Our hat goes off to the Titans, who came back in the 7th inning to pull out the victory.
"Ridge View will return a lot of their players next year, as many of them got valuable playing experience this year, but we will miss our four graduated seniors - Brea Slaybaugh, Jaime Christensen, Ashley Buell and Victoria Andresen," concluded the veteran coach.
Ridge View finished off the season with a 14-16 record.
