Warriors handle Spencer, 10-3
SPENCER - Alta-Aurelia defeated Spencer 10-3 in a non-conference baseball game here Thursday night that ended the regular season for both teams.
Ben Stevens got the pitching win for the visiting Warriors, allowing one run on one hit and striking out four in three innings of work. Ryan Friedrich closed out the game for A-A, giving up one run on one hit and striking out six in two innings.
Dylan Suhr led the Warriors at the plate, with a 3-5 game, including two doubles and two RBI. Chris Bengtson was 2-3 with an RBI, and Neil Marshall, Schuyler Radke, and Stevens each added a single and RBI. Friedrich, Matt Sefcik, and Christian Weiland also had hits for the winners.
"This was an important game for us heading in the Districts," said A-A coach Dan Wendel. "I thought we played very well defensively with no errors and we hit the ball well. Our pitchers did a good job holding a good Spencer team to three hits on the night.
"I was extremely proud of our effort and this team has grown immensely throughout this season. The kids know what it takes to be successful and we need to continue playing this kind of baseball during the post season."
