The Ridge View Raptors ended their regular season with a non-conference loss at Storm Lake St. Mary's on Thursday and lost to the Panthers, 8-5.
Seth Johnson was 2-3 with a double and two RBI for the Raptors, while Heath Clark also drove in two runs.
Ridge View coach Shannon Tesch said, " We didn't play well, but we didn't necessarily play bad. It was one of those games where we didn't do ourselves any favors. St. Mary's was patient at the plate. They took advantage of opportunities offensively.
The Raptors opened Class 2A District Tourbnament play at Alta on Saturday, facing conference rival Odebolt-Arthur/Battle Creek-Ida Grove, and the two Western Valley Conference teams provided fans with an exciting game, won by the Falcons, 12-11, in the bottom of the 7th inning on a walk-off home run by Tyler Down, after Ridge View had scored four runs in the top of the inning to tie the game.
Seth Johnson paced Ridge View's offense, going 3 for 4 and driving across two runs with a double and solo homerun, while Josh Mohr went 2 for 3, including a big 3-run homer, and Austin Graff was 1 for 4 with a double and three RBI.
Raptors coach Tesch stated, "We made a good comeback in the 7th inning to tie it up. OA-BCIG is a good team. They came up with the big plays when they needed them. I'm proud of our guys for fighting their way back into a situation to win the game."
The Ridge View Raptors finished the season with a record of 10-15.
