Annual Firemen's Benefit and All School Reunion

AURELIA - The Aurelia Community Fire Department Firemen are hosting their annual Firemen's Benefit Night on Saturday, July 17, "Under the Big Top" in the Aurelia City Park...rain or shine.

This year the meal will be served at the Aurelia Community Center from 6-8:30 p.m. for $5.50 per person. The selection will be turkey fillets, hamburgers, pork loin sandwiches, potato salad, macaroni salad, baked beans, chips and a drink.

Admission to the dance featuring "The Magnificent Board of Directors," which will run from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m., will be $5 per person over the age of 16. As always there will be raffle tickets for sale for various prizes such as a Gas Grill and a 26" HD TV.

Proceeds raised from this year's celebration will go to purchasing new Bunker Gear for each Fireman at a cost of $1,620.08, for a total of $27,541.36. Our current gear has expired and has to be replaced.

Also on July 17 in conjunction with the Firemen's Benefit will be the 2010 Aurelia All School Reunion and Community Celebration.

Every five years Aurelia has an all school reunion organized to make sure that it is on the same weekend as the Firemen's Ball to help benefit the fire department.

The scheule of events for the All School Reunion is a follows:


5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Free wine tasting at Village Boutique.

7 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Free Dance at the Community Center featuring "Big Band Sound" by Shirley Brandt.

9 p.m. to Midnight. Free Dance at the Aurelia Golf Course featuring Pianopalooza featuring Aurelia graduate Tony Bohnenkamp. The band features music from the oldies to modern music. Lawn chairs and blankets are encouraged.


7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. Breakfast of pancakes, eggs, & sausage will be served at the Aurelia Community Center by the Aurelia Kiwanis.

8 a.m. Fun Run/Walk or Bike Ride will be starting in front of the school.

9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Open house at the school. During this time you can tour the school facilities and spend time visiting. Coffee will be available. A short program will be held around 11:30 a.m. in the new gym with the Aurelia Band Drum Line performing.

10 a.m. Parade will be starting and ending at the school. Line up for the parade will begin at 9:30 A.M.

11 a.m. to 1 p.m. A Stuffed Spud and Dessert Bar will be served at the Community Center by the Aurelia Music Boosters.

11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Heritage Museum and Heritage House will be open. A free ice cream social will be served on the Heritage House lawn located at 404 Main Street from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Free cherry cokes at Village Boutique.

1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Book signing by Dennis Allen, author of The Cherokean, at Village Boutique.

6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Aurelia Firemen will be serving supper at the Community Center serving hamburgers, pork loin sandwiches and turkey fillets, potato salad, baked beans, chips and a drink for $5.50.

9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Music by the "Board of Directors" at the Aurelia Park, $5.00 admission.
