SIOUX CITY - The Mid America Museum of Aviation and Transportation in Sioux City is hosting a special event Saturday, July 31, at the Museum at 2600 Expedition Court, adjacent to the Sioux Gateway Airport here.
Besides the many permanent displays in the 30,000 square foot Museum that take you on a journey through the history, science, and technology of American aviation and transportation, a special feature July 31 is the appearance of a World War II B-17 Bomber. Rides in the Bomber will be raffled off at $20 for three tickets.
The world of aviation and transportation comes to life at the Mid America Museum where a variety of displays of full-sized aircraft and surface transportation, ranging from bicycles to vintage automobiles, to a Boeing 727-200!
Visitors also will be able to step back in time and encounter unique artifacts and exhibits that help tell the exciting story of aviation and transportation in our lives.
Aviation from commercial to general, military to sport, homebuilt to incredibly detailed scale models, there's something for everyone to discover in the Museum.
Visitors can cruise through the amazing world of transportation, from vintage cars, motocycles, military vehicles, and road maintenance equipment from two wheels to many more.
Displays and exhibits also portray the impact of our military veterans had on surface transportation to preserve and protect our freedom through the years.
There also is a well-appointed gift shop, with all proceeds benefiting the Museum.
The fully handicap accessible Museum is open year around Thursday through Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. It's open holidays except for Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's, and Easter.
Admission fees are adults $6, seniors and active military $5, children ages 5-14 $3, and age 4 and under free.
