Second annual Inkpaduta Canoe Race

Grab your friends and get your team together.The O'Brien County Conservation Board and the Little Sioux Valley Conservation Association is sponsoring the Second Annual Inkpaduta Canoe Race to the Prairie Heritage Center.This year there will be two divisions one for canoes and one for kayaks.

The event will be held on Saturday, Aug. 14 beginning at 10 a.m. Canoes will enter the water at the Iowa Hwy. 10 bridge near Peterson. The race will finish at the Prairie Heritage Center. First price in each division will be a two-night stay at one of the six-person camping cabins at Mill Creek or Dog Creek Park.

Second price in each division will be five nights of camping at either Mill Creek or Dog Creek Park.

If you aren't in the race for speed, that's okay too.All registered participants completing the course in under six hours will also be entered in a drawing for a two night stay in the Dog Creek six-person camping cabin.

The registration deadline is Aug. 10.The entrance fee of $30/canoe and $15/kayak includes a commemorative t-shirt.Additional t-shirts will be available for sale at the Prairie Heritage Center.Lunch will also be sold at the center after noon. So bring your friends and support your favorite team.
