Brandon Michael Thomas, 21, of Omaha, passed away Monday, July 12, 2010 at Creighton University Medical Center after injuries suffered in a July 8 motorcycle-car collision.

Funeral services were held Thursday, July 15, at Temple Israel in Omaha, Neb.

The family has established a scholarship fund at Metropolitan Community College, Culinary Arts Institute in Thomas' memory. Donations are being accepted for the Brandon Thomas Culinary Arts Scholarship Fund at the MCC Foundation Fort Omaha Campus, Box 3777, Omaha, Neb., 68103-0777.

Thomas, the son of Paul Thomas and Andrea Gordman, was a 2007 graduate of Millard North High School and a student at the Institute for Culinary Arts at Metro Community College.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Tony Reinert; maternal grandmother, Lucille Zelinsky; and grandfather, Barney Brautman.

Thomas is survived by his parents, his sister, Lindsey Thomas of Omaha; stepfather Daniel Fitzgerald and step brothers, Matt and Jeff of Omaha; grandparents Bonnie and Dennis Thomas of Cherokee, Ellen and Robert Gordman of Breckenridge, Colo.; great grandmother June Reinert of Cherokee; aunts, uncles, cousins Diane and Jeff Thomas of Cherokee; Mary and Tony Minino and Alex and Aaron of Green Bay, Wis.; Allison and Jay Gordman and Spencer and Preston of Omaha.
