The third time's a charm as Washta prepares for the town's third visit from RAGBRAI riders in the great bike ride's history.
The 38th annual RAGBRAI will be rolling through Washta on Sunday, July 25 as the riders make their way from Sioux City to Storm Lake, a 68.5 mile jaunt on the first day of the ride.
Washta is ready to welcome the riders to the "Coldest spot in Iowa," the slogan on the t-shirts that will available for sale on Sunday.
A fine variety of food and beverage will also be available for riders as they make their way to Washta. Burgers, corn on the cob, fresh fruit and better-than-sex cake, as well as a variety of refreshing beverages, will be for sale on the streets of Washta for those rolling through.
While refueling with food, riders will be entertained by the sounds of JAMTIME productions, a DJ that will be playing near the Washta Fire Station from 8:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. On the other side of the block, local bands will also perform their songs for the pedaling population.
The town is also planning to hold three church services, taking place at 9, 9:30, and 10 a.m.
The 2010 visit will be Washta's third time hosting RAGBRAI riders. The last time pedalers hit the pavement in Washta was 2001.
