Cherokee lefthander Cody Ege recently completed a stellar career for the Braves at the State Tournament. Ege will next pitch for the University of Louisville.
The Lakes Conference has released its All-Conference baseball teams for the 2010 season. Cherokee Washington southpaw hurler Cody Ege was one of seven players who were unanimous choices for the first team. along with fellow pitcher Levi Blankespoor of Western Christian, catcher Tyler Greenough of Spencer, infielders Tayler Tatman of Spencer, Jake Jackson of Emmetsburg, Mitch Peschon of Spirit Lake and Michael McCabe of Storm Lake. Junior Curtis Ege of Cherokee was one of the first team outfield selections, along with Keaton Rowe of LeMars, Josh Bubke of Spencer and Justin Jansma of Western Christian. Utility selections Mike Ahlers of LeMars and Tyler Dean of Spirit Lake complete the first team.
Two more seniors from the State tournament contending Cherokee Braves were named to the second team All-Conference, catcher Kyle Schuck and infielder Matt Pitts. Other second team selections were Western Christian's Brad Vande Griend, Jesse Vander Zwaag and Bryce Grienweg, Jeremy Bohlke and Tanner Dowling of LeMars, Nolan Cone of Storm Lake, Marcus Christensen of Estherville-LC and Alex Wethor of Spencer.
