Esther H. Green, 82, of Oelwein, Iowa died on Saturday, July 31, 2010 at her home.

The funeral Service was held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at the United Methodist Church in Fairbank, Iowa, with Pastor Michael Christie officiating. Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home, Oelwein,was, in charge of funeral arrangements. Esther Helen Stahl was born on March 23, 1928 at Mitchell, South Dakota, the daughter of Herman H. & Marian Pearl (Block) Stahl. She received her education from the country schools at Mitchell, South Dakota. Esther was united in marriage to Lorin Francis Green on June 23, 1946 at Mitchell, South Dakota. The couple farmed at Mitchell until they moved to Minnesota. They later moved to Iowa where they lived at Cleghorn and then moved to Fairbank in 1979. In 2006 they moved to Oelwein. Esther was a homemaker and a great mother. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women at Fairbank. She collected bells, enjoyed quilting, flower gardening and watching cardinals. She also liked to play Yahtzee with her children and enjoyed many times with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Esther is survived by her seven Children: Kathy (Butch) Putzier of DeKalb, Texas, Beverly (Robert) Mahler of Cherokee, Joyce Mueller (Mark Angio) of Loveland, Colorado, Tom Green of Oelwein, Don Green of Hamilton, Montana, Jan (Brien) Mohlis of Fairbank & Denise (Loras) Little of Fairbank; 16 Grandchildren; 15 Great Grandchildren; three sisters: Alyce Edgar of Portland, Oregon, Verniece McCullough of Plano, Texas & Dorothy (Al) Ketterling of Moorcroft, Wyoming; two brothers: Edward (Leona) Stahl of Mitchell, South Dakota & Fred (Dorothy) Stahl of Mitchell, South Dakota; two brothers-in-law: Kenneth Kuhnes of Cherokee & Roger (Naomi) Green of Hill City, South Dakota, and many nieces & nephews.

Esther was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Lorin, on March 22, 2008; a stillborn daughter, Gloria; two brothers, John and Leonard Stahl; and a sister, Gladys Stahl.
