Thursday, August 5, 2010

For the sixth consecutive year, the Cherokee Rotary Club has donated backpacks filled with school supplies (provided by Hy-Vee) to Mid-Sioux Opportunities.

Mid-Sioux will, in turn, distribute the backpacks to local K-4 students who come from income-eligible families, as determined by Mid-Sioux guidelines.

The Back Pack School Supply Project is one of the Rotary Club's main projects each year, and a grateful Cherokee Mid-Sioux Director Joan Forcier says that may students have benefitted from the program each year of its existence.

Forcier stated that she has been receiving calls recently from clients wondering when the highly-valued backpacks were coming in to Mid-Sioux.
