Friday, August 6, 2010

Look out below - The spray helicopter lines up for his landing on top of the refill truck as the other members of his team get ready to reload the helicopter with spray. The refill truck was sitting on N Avenue near the intersection with 585th Street in Pilot Township.

The time has come again for the spray planes and helicopters to return to rid the crops of bugs and fungus. This helicopter pilot, working with First Coop of Cherokee, is from Pennsylvania.

A short stop - The helicopter remained perched on the truck as members of the Pennsylvania crew refilled the helicopter's spray. If the helicopter only needs to have its spray refilled, the process only takes about one minute. [Click to enlarge]

Right in Line - On this still evening, the spray slowly settled onto the field as the helicopter made its low cruise over the crops. The pilot follows GPS coordinates to let him know exactly where to spread his blanket of spray.

Take-off - The helicopter takes off, fully loaded with spray and ready to rid another round of fields of pests and fungus. The helicopter is working with First Coop in Cherokee.
