Light work

Workers arrived last week to tear down the 50-year old lighting system at George Hicks Field on the Cherokee Washington High Campus. A new $200,000 lighting system has been planned for about a year and will be installed this week for The Cherokee Braves football and track and field events. A wind storm two weeks ago toppled some of the old lights and poles and caused $17,000 damage to the metal bleachers section. The lighting project is financed through the School District's PPEL fund.
