More than 3,200 soldiers from the Iowa National Guard were informed of their mobilization to deploy this fall in what is projected to be the single largest single-unit call-up since World War II.
Additionally, there are over 400 Army Reserve troops who have been deployed or will soon be deployed in the next year.
The Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) will host a breakfast meeting on Thursday, August 26 at the Western Iowa Tech Community College campus in Cherokee.
This free workshop is designed for HR professionals, business owners, managers, and supervisors, and will benefit all employers, not just those who currently employ Guard members or Reservists. Someone in your employ could enlist in the service at any given time, and you would want to be aware of your responsibilities as an employer in that situation.
Agenda items at the August 26 meeting will include the role of the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve; the USERRA (Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act); information on the deployment process from the Army National Guard, specifically referencing the upcoming deployment; and Military Family FMLA Guidelines.
Please register for this meeting by e-mailing email@example.com or calling 1-800-294-6607(ext. 2757) by Friday, August 13.
