On Friday, August 20, the River Valley Booster Club will be hosting "Meet the Teams Night." Come and meet the 2011 football team, volleyball team, drill team and cheerleaders. This is also photos night so please bring your cameras as the kids will be in uniform.
It is the goal of the Booster Club to promote River Valley athletics throughout the year. We have sponsored nights of free admission to basketball, softball, and baseball games, free popcorn night as well as free ice cream night. All we asked in return was to wear River Valley apparel to the games as you cheered on the Wolverines. During the past year the Booster Club has contributed nearly $5,000 to the new weight room, have purchased needed equipment for the baseball, softball, volleyball, track and basketball programs. In addition, this year's football players will each have there own equipment bag for transporting their uniforms and equipment to games. The monies you spend buying apparel or yard lines or donate to the club comes back to help your athlete and all athletes in the communities.
How do we pay for these things? We rely on the generosity of parents, friends, alumni, and all community businesses to help with the needs of the school athletic programs through monetary donations of various levels. This is the night we ask and hope everyone will give their donation to the Booster Club. We ask every family for a donation of $50 (we will accept any amount) for their athlete. We advertise all donations on the back of home athletic event programs during the year. We ask you to join the Elite Club $250+, Wolverine Club $100+, Red Club $75, and the Grey Club $50. Also, Please support these businesses that support your athletes. And while this night doesn't announce the athletes who will participate in golf, track, basketball, softball or baseball, we are working on a night for them; we would appreciate their donation as well on this night.
So come out show our colors and give your support to the River Valley 2010-2011 teams. We will have the grill running! The night will begin (between 4:30 & 5:00) with opportunities for individual and group photos of the fall sports teams. The NEW RV apparel, spirit items, and yard lines will be for sale. The teams, football, volleyball, drill team, and cheerleaders, will be introduced in the River Valley gymnasium at approximately 6:00. You will then have the opportunity to watch Coach Baumann's volleyball team scrimmage. Then we can move outside where the Coach Winkler's team will give us a first look at River Valley Wolverine 8-man football in action.
Who can be a booster club member? Anyone who enjoys kids and sports in the River Valley communities. Meaning you don't have to just have kids in high school to be a booster or to be involved in the club.
Folks we need more people to be involved in the operation and the decision making of the booster club. These are your kids and ours that we are making decisions for. We meet the first Wednesday of every month, at Driftwood Pizza at 7 PM. This is one night a month to make decisions. And folks I know you run busy lives. So do the rest of us. Please become involved. We need you! The program needs you!
The Boosters will have a table set up for the donations. Or they can be dropped off to Bill Forbes or Contact Perry Slota.
