STORM LAKE - The Northwest Iowa Radio Control Airplane Club will hold their second annual "Fun Fly" at the Storm Lake airport this Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 4-5.
Flying will be from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m., with a $5 flying fee for each day you fly your aircraft. You must be an AMA pilot and have a membership card to fly. However, there will also be a "Try and Fly" from 1 - 2 p.m. each day for spectators.
Although there are no hookups available at the site, there are plenty of nearby camping areas if spectators bring their trailers or want to camp out. Organizers of the event say that people are welcome to come and set up on Friday night, and say also that there will be a place available for contestants to charge their planes.
The 'Fun Fly' is free fun for the family, and spectators are invited to bring chairs along to enjoy the show. Food will be served to the pilots at noon, and spectators may also eat, for a small donation. If anyone has items that they would like to swap or sell, they are encouraged to bring those items along.
