'Walk for Recovery' scheduled

SPENCER - The public is cordially invited to participate in the 1st Annual NW Iowa Substance Abuse Recovery Walk and Celebration which will be held on Sunday, Sept. 26, in Spencer.

Participants will register at the north end of the Northgate Mall in Spencer outside Compass Pointe Offices, 1900 Grand Ave North Ste A., from 1p.m. to 3 p.m. The "Recovery Walk" will then proceed down Grand Avenue with the "Celebration" taking place at Leach Park from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. There is no charge to attend!

Registrations are encouraged as there will be free T-shirts for those that register prior to Sept. 15.

This event is designed to raise community awareness about substance abuse recovery, fight stigma, provide individual recovery support and educate the public about recovery and resources surrounding addiction.

Come join in this celebration to show support for individuals and their families in need of treatment and to celebrate those in recovery. There will be live music, food, inspirational stories, fellowship and recognition for those in recovery.
