Irene Stief, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and aunt entered into eternal rest on Sept. 2, 2010.

Visitation was from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesday at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North in San Antonio, Texas with a Vigil/Rosary at 7 p.m. The Mass of the Resurrection is to be celebrated at noon at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 8134 Blanco Rd. 78216 San Antonio, TX. Interment will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. Tributes in lieu of flowers may be made to START, Cancer Treatment Center, 4383 Medical Drive, San Antonio TX 78229. Irene was born Aug. 25, 1943 in San Antonio, Texas to Julian and Dolores Quesada. Irene spent most of her life as a single mother caring for and raising her three children. After each went out on their own, she began a working career outside of the home. She worked as a Bindery Technician for a couple of printing companies. She worked for over fifteen years. It was the last company at which she worked she met her husband Mel. After a relationship of over one year, they were married on Oct. 26, 2002.

Irene was preceded in death by a sister, Rosa Obiedo.

She is survived by her husband, Colonel Mahlon (Mel) Stief, USAF Ret.; a sister, Lucille C. Romero; a daughter, Dolores Rios and husband Ralph and grandson, Xavier of San Antonio; a son, Joey Tabares and Cindy and grandchildren, JoJo and DawnDawn of San Antonio; a son, John Carrasco of San Antonio; a step-daughter, Tiffany Willett and husband, Darren, step-grandchildren, Sloan, Sydney and Donnie of Chadron Neb.; and a step-son, Tim Stief of San Antonio. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, friends and relatives.
