WESTSIDE - The River Valley Wolverines played hard here on Friday, but came up a bit short as they lost a non-district football game to Ar-We-Va by a 55-20 score.

Blane Cullen ran the ball 31 times for 143 yards to pace the Wolverine rushing attack, and Cullen also scored two touchdowns. Brody Riedemann completed 5 of 19 passes for 88 yards and one TD to his brother Brennan, and he also had one pass intercepted. Brennan Riedemann caught two aerials for 36 yards, while Cullen also caught two for 35 yards, and Carl Simonsen snared one for 17 yards.

Brennan Riedemann also had an interception on defense, which he returned for seven yards. The Wolverine "D" was led by Billy Pansegrau with nine tackles, while Tanner Cobb had seven, and Carl Simonsen, Jacob Preuss and Brody Riedemann were credited with six tackles apiece.

River Valley Coach Brian WInkler said, "We did a lot of good things. We played hard and ran the ball well, and defensively we played with passion and ran to the ball well. We need to improve our special teams this week and just execute in all phases better next week."

Winkler promised that his student-athletes would come to practice this week, correct their mistakes and be ready to go against Whiting on Friday.
