BRUNSVILLE - The Cherokee and Ridge View cross country teams competed in Tuesday's Gary Meyer Invitational hosted by Le Mars, with the Ridge View girls placing fourth and Cherokee girls eighth in their division, and the Ridge View boys finishing seventh in the boys competition.
The Cherokee boys didn't enter enough runners to figure in the varsity team totals.
For the Cherokee girls, Chyenne Mortenson was 39th in 19:57, followed by Madison Book 48th in 21:21, Katy Hart 49th in 21:22, Danni Roethler 50th in 21:35, and Stephanie Aguillar 54th in 23:25.
The Cherokee boys featured three runners, with Jaden Lux leading the way with a 45th place finish in 20:52, followed by Andy Pitts 54th in 22:46, and Conner Ogren 59th in 26:49.
Jessie Mathes paced the Ridge View girls, placing fourth in 17:05, followed by Ashley Drey seventh in 17:16, Rachel Hunt 33rd in 19:46, Michaela Else 34th in 19:47, Annie McAreavy 36th in 20:02, Meg Kohmehl 40th in 20:21, and Kate Mathes 52nd in 22:12.
Jason Kenny led the Ridge View boys to the finish line in 18:19 for ninth place, followed by Christian Egger 24th in 19:06, Sergio Carbajal 339th in 20:27, Riley Cosgrove 42nd in 20:39, Jordan Bremer 46th in 20:58, and Josh Mohr 49th in 21:07.
For Cherokee JV girls, Amber Lundquist was 39th in 26:23, and Abby Hayes 40th in 26:43.
Bailry Gaydo was 8th in the middle school girls race in 12:30, and Sydney Hart was 17th in 13:50.
For the Raptors JV girls, Nicole Brandt was 33rd in 24:51, and Hailey Clark 42nd in 27:12. Heath Clark was 47th in 23:28 for the Ridge View boys JV.
Orange City Unity Christian won the girls team crown with 26 points, followed by Le Mars 61, Le Mars Gehlen 96, Rdige View 114, MOC-Floyd Valley 140, Hinton 150, Woodbury Central/Kingsley-Pierson/Lawton-Bronson 184, Cherokee 238.
Unity Christian also won the boys team title with 45 points, followed by Storm Lake 61, MOC-FV 90, Le Mars 111, Sergeant Bluff-Luton 123, Gehlen 152, Ridge View 160, WC-KP-LB 215, Hinton 217.
