WHS, MMC-RU run at Holstein

HOLSTEIN - The Marcus-Meriden-Ceghorn/Remsen-Union girls were 14th and the Cherokee Washington High girls placed 15th in Class A at Saturday's Ridge View Cross Country Meet here.

Both the MMC-RU and Cherokee boys teams featured just four runners apiece and did not figure in the team standings.

In the girls competition, MMC-RU totaled 340 points, and Cherokee 352 in the Class A division won by Sioux City Heelan with 36 team points.

For MMC-RU, Anna Wilcox placed 41st in 19:12, followed by Kelsey Sears 46th in 19:25, Samantha Tentinger 76th in 20:53, Alissa McDermott 88th in 23:10, Monica De La Cruz 89th in 23:14, Christina Wilkens 93rd in 25:17, and Casey Wurth 95th in 25:51.

For the Cherokee girls, Chyenne Mortenson placed 48th in 19:20, followed by Danni Roethler 64th in 20:12. Katy Hart 69th in 20:25, Madison Book 79th in 21:07, and Amber Lundquist 92nd in 23:44.

The Cherokee boys were led by Eamon Adamson who was 53rd in 19:04, followed by Jaden Lux 55th in 19:10, Andy Pitts 92nd in 21:38, and Conner Ogren 96th in 27:09.

For MMC-RU boys, Derek Reuter was 60th in 19:38, Jacob Pearson 84th in 21:09, Zack Kellog 93rd in 21:58, and Tayler Coombs 95th in 23:32.

In JV girls action, Abby Hayes ran a 25:46 time for Cherokee.

"We had some good performances at this meet," noted Cherokee coach Jolene Hultgren. "As the season progresses, the kids are gaining more confidence and are finally starting to get in shape to run the 4K and 5K. We are lookijng forward to continued improvement."

"We had good improvements in a huge meet with 100-plus runners in every race," said MMC-RU coach Ric Collins. "We had great efforts that will make us better in the next few weeks."
