Cherokee XC teams improve times

STORM LAKE - The times continued to improve for the Cherokee cross country teams at the Storm Lake Invitational here Tuesday night.

The girls placed 13th in the team competition ans the Cherokee boys, featuring just four varsity runners, did not figure in the team standings.

Hanna Benningsdorf led the Cherokee girls with a 19:26 clocking for 72nd place, followed by Chyenne Mortenson 19:42 for 74th, Katy Hart 76th in 19:54, Danni Roethler 78th in 20:05, Madison Book 81st in 20:23, tasha Larsen 91st in 22:06, and Stephanie Aguillar, 92nd in 22:37.

In the boys race, Eamon Adamson was 71st in 19:58, while jaden Lux was 72nd in 20:01, Andy Pitts 01st in 23:28, and Conner Ogren 93rd in 27:26.

In the JV girls competition, Amber Lundquist was 58th in 23:17, and Abby Hayes was 73rd in 25:33. In Middle School action for Cherokee, Bailey Gaydo was 12th in 15:58 for two miles, and Sydney Hart was 22nd in 17:12.

"Four runners had season bests," notted Cherokee coach Jolene Hultgren. "It's good to see the runners improving as the season goes on. If they can get a better time each time they run at a meet, then they are meeting one of our top goals, which is to improve throughout the season."

The Cherokee squads run Tuesday in the Sheldon Invitational.
