Ridge View VB falls to Tornadoes

Monday, September 20, 2010

STORM LAKE - The Ridge View Raptors volleyball team traveled to Storm Lake Thursday to take on the Class 3A Storm Lake Tornadoes and the Raptors, who have been ranked in the Top 10 in Class 2A all season, lost all three games to the host school by close margins, 25-23, 25-20, 25-23.

Ridge View Coach Scott Mitchell said that his team struggled with serving and passing, adding that "You won't win very many games when you don't do those well."

Roxanne Grundmeier led the Raptors, now 14-3, with 16 kills, while Brooke Weise added six. Egypt Clayton led the team in assists with 24. Beth Schwanz, with 12 digs and Grundmeier, with 11, led the team in that department. Kaitlyn Madsen had the lone block for Ridge View and Shannon Rohlk's two ace serves also led the team.

Coach Mitchell stated hat he was very impressed with how Storm Lake played, and emphasized that Ridge View needs to be "more consistent on the 'little things.'"
