Water shut off to impact Cherokee streets

Monday, September 20, 2010

The Cherokee Water Department has announced that on Wednesday, Sept. 22 the water will be shut off at 8:30 a.m. for about six hours barring any problems.

The water is being shut off to replace two fire hydrants and two water main valves.

The affected areas are as follows: Euclid Avenue from Willow Street to Sumner Street, Fountain Street from Euclid Avenue to Roosevelt Avenue, Roosevelt Avenue from Magnetic Street to Fountain Street, Union Street, Cedar Street from Second Street to Euclid Avenue, North First Street from Cedar Street to Linn Street, Cherry Street from First Street to Second Street, Linn Street, Willow Street from Euclid Avenue to Union Street.

There is a possibility the area may need to be expanded if there is a problem with any of the valves needed for the water shut down. Also, Cedar Street from North First Street to Euclid Avenue will be closed to through traffic during the project.
