The Aurelia Bulldog volleyball team played in a tournament at Twin Rivers of Bode Saturday, and came away with their first win of the season, defeating Corwith-Wesley-Laverne 21-18, 21-18, in their second match of the tourney. Aurelia opened play with a two-set loss to host TRV, 5-21 and 8-21. Their third match was against Southeast Webster-Grand, and the Bulldogs stretched it to a third game before they ultimately succumbed to SW-G by game scores of 21-9, 18-21 ,15-10. Audrey Winterhof led the Bulldogs' attack with six total kills on the day, while Alyssa Phipps added four. Regan Henkel led with six assists, and digs were led by Stephanie Stange with, eight. Stephanie also had eight ace serves for the day.
Bulldog Coach Ann Dornack said, "It was really great to watch the girls work as a team and be successful with a win."
The Bulldog girls go to Alton on Saturday for another tournament.
