The Cherokee Depot Renovation, Inc. is hosting its 9th annual Fall Family Festival on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the restored, Railroad Depot in Cherokee's Historic Downtown Entertainment and Cultural District.
There will be events for children and adults alike, including the model trains that are on display in the Depot. There will also be plenty of games for the kids in the yard outside the Depot.
For the adults, there is a Baking Contest. Any apple or pumpkin treat may be entered. Full contest rules are available at cherokeeia.com, the Cherokee Chamber of Commerce, or Cherokee Area Economic Development Corporation.
An auction/ fund-raiser of all baked goods will be held at 11:30 a.m. so the public is invited be there to help donate to the Depot and take home an award winning baked goods.
A bake sale will start at 9 a.m. until everything is gone.
Also from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. there will be a car and motorcycle "Show and Shine" and the Little Sioux Valley Model Railroad will be open and operating from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Another great feature at this year's Fall Family Fest will be an Art Display provided by area artists.
Judy Miller will be demonstrating her rope making skills from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
This year, a raffle will be held on both a Train Quilt and a black leather jacket.
Lunch will be available starting at 11 a.m. " until the food is gone." The meal will include taverns, hot dogs, chips and a drink.
There will also be games and activities for kid. Kids will be able to meet Barkley the Dog from 1st Trust and Savings Bank, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., and Kirby the Kangaroo, from North Star Community Credit Union, from 12:15 to 1 p.m. There will also be a little train ride available and a coloring contest.
