River Valley falls to L-M, 64-20

CORRECTIONVILLE - Laurens-Marathon quarterback Alex Runneberg completed 15 of 18 pass attempts for 343 yards and five touchdowns in an impressive passing display against River Valley in 8-man football action here on Friday.

Laurens-Marathon scored four touchdowns in the first quarter and River Valley was never able to climb out of that hole, despite their "playing with passion and composure," in the words of their coach, Brian Winkler.

Laurens-Marathon wound up winning the game by a score of 64-20, in a game which was played under the 35-point rule and continuous clock the entire second half.

River Valley's three touchdowns came on a 43-yard run by Dylan Fluke in he second quarter and 28 and 10 yard runs by Brennan Riedemann and Billy Pansegrau, respectively, in the fourth quarter. Blane Cullen scored a two=point conversion after the final TD.

Coach Winkler felt that his team "ran the ball pretty well," as evidenced by Brennan Riedemann's 112 yards rushing in 12 carries, with one TD; Blane Cullen's 56 yards on nine carries; Dylan Fluke's 55 yards on seven carries, with the one TD; and Bill Pansegrau's 35 yards and one TD on two carries. Riedemann was 0-5 passing with one interception.

On defense, Jacob Preuss had 10 tackles; Fluke had eight; Cullen, Riedemann, Parker Goettsch and Skylar Shever each had seven' and Pansegrau had six.

River Valley (2-2) travels to Kingsley to play K-P (2-2) on Friday.
