Monday, September 27, 2010

Mid-Sioux Opportunity, Inc. received $3,000 from the Cherokee County Legacy Foundation this year. The money was used towards helping the low-income families of Cherokee County with crisis needs such as: rent and utility payments, food, miscellaneous emergency needs, and items for newborns. Of these 12 households, four were assisted with rental assistance, seven were assisted with utility assistance, and the final household was assisted with purchasing much needed medical prescriptions. The funds were also used to purchase school supplies, meat for food packages, and baby needs for the Cherokee Early Head Start Teddy Bear Den.
