MANNING - The Ridge View volleyball team advanced to the Western Valley Conference finals after posting an impressive 3-1 match record here Saturday, losing to host IKM-Manning, and defeating Boyer Valley, Whiting, and Woodbine.
The Raptors lost 12-21, 19-21 to IKM-Manning, then beat Boyer Valley 21-11, 21-9; Whiting 21-7, 21-7; and Woodbine 21-9, 21-8.
Over all, the Raptors were 116-132 hitting with 64 kills on the day, and served 138-148 with 18 aces for 93-percent. They amassed 61 team digs, 56 team assists, and tallied three team blocks.
Roxanne Grundmeier led Ridge View in kills with 22, and Brooke Wiese totaled 18. Shannon Rohlk and Wiese paced the Raptors in ace serves with five apiece.
Egypt Clayton was set assist leader with 50, while Grundmeier tallied 18 digs and Gretchen Kistenmacher 13 to pace the Raptors in that category.
"We got a sluggish start against IKM-Manning, but were able to bounce back the rest of the day and take care of business," said Ridge View coach Scott Mitchell.
"Finishing second in the pool advances us to the Conference Finals."
Ridge View sports a 19-9 match record and currently stands 3-1 in the WVC.
