HULL - The Cherokee Washington High School cross country teams competed at the Hull Western Christian Invitational here Tuesday, with the WHS girls placing 8th with 228 points in the rugged field, and the Cherokee boys failing to count in the team standings due to low numbers because of illness.
Hanna Benningsdorf led the Cherokee girls to the finish line, placing 41st in 19:11, followed by Chyenne Mortenson 44th in 19:32, Madison Book 45th in 19:34, Danni Roethler 48th in 20:01, Katy Hart 50th in 20:16, and Stephanie Aguilar 55th in 22:15.
Eamon Adamson paced the Cherokee boys, finishing 27th in 18:27 for a personal best time. Jaden Lux was 42nd in 19:10. Adamson and Lux were the only varsity runners for the Braves due to illness sidelining the rest of the boys team.
In JV girls action for Cherokee, Amber Lundquist was 40th in 22:10, and Abby Hayes 55th in 26:53.
"Eamon and Madison ran excellent races, with both running personal bests on a tough course on a hot day," said Cherokee coach Jolene Hultgren. "The girls ran well as a team, staying close to each other and pushing each other to do their best.
"The next meet is our home meet and we hope to have a good crowd on hand to cheer on the team."
