Football Eagles fall to West Sioux

HAWARDEN - West Sioux rushed for six touchdowns on 38 carries for 384 yards on the way to a 42-0 demolition of Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn in Class A District football action here Friday night.

Running back Dillon McKee led the Falcons with three TDs and totaled 158 yards rushing on 17 carries. Quarterback Josh Curiel rushed six times for 46 yards and two TDs, and running back David Hernandez hauled the ball 10 times for 167 yards and one TD.

Curiel threw one pass in the game and that was intercepted by MMC's Andrew Hoefling.

The visiting Eagles could muster just 66 rushing yards on 26 carries, with QB Tanner Utesch leading the way with 68 yards on 16 carries. Utesch completed 19-36 passes for 131 yards, with Neal Bunt catching six passes for 41 yards, Andrew Hoefling four for 33, Jake Meehan three for 38, and John Hoefling three for 14.

Bunt paced the MMC defense with 10 tackles, followed by Nathan Zubrod eight, Tyler Prunty seven, and Meehan six.

McKee led West Sioux in tackles with 10, and Hernandez registered nine.

MMC (3-3) host dangerous Clay Central-Everly (4-2) Friday night.
