The Cherokee Arts Council (CAC), along with the Sanford Museum, has launched a unique fundraiser to benefit the CAC.

With help from several volunteers and local artisans, the CAC has produced several Barn Quilt Blocks that will be on exhibit in the Sanford Museum's West Gallery. The Museum will be holding an Exhibit Opening this Saturday at 7:30 p.m. to showcase the Barn Quilt Blocks, and beginning on Saturday, the public can begin bidding on the Barn Quilt Blocks as part of a silent auction.

The silent auction will end on Nov. 19 at 5 p.m.

During Saturday's Exhibit Opening the public can come and meet the artisans, plus Margo Sievers, of rural Rembrandt, will be the evening guest speaker. Sievers will be presenting the program "The Well-Built Barn Quilt... All Pleasure, No Guilt."

Have you noticed the popularity of all the beautiful Barn Quilts around Northwest Iowa? During Saturday's program the public can come and find out the history of Barn Quilts and how they are made.

Sievers will include the story of her own Barn Quilts, and she will tell the public about the Underground Railroad Quilt Blocks as well. Sievers will also discuss color use and will do a special activity with the audience.

Winning bidders in the silent auction will be able to pick up their Barn Quilts on Nov. 29 by 5 p.m.
