M.O.V.E. comes to Aurelia

Meet the candidates - On Wednesday, Cherokee County Republicans held a Motivate Our Voters Event (M.O.V.E.) at the Aurelia Community Center. The purpose of the event was to introduce voters to Republican candidates for county, state, and federal offices. AURELIA - On Wednesday, the Aurelia Community Center was home to M.O.V.E., an acronym for "Motivate Our Voters Event."

The purpose of Wednesday's gathering was to introduce the Republican candidates for the U.S. Legislature, the Iowa State House, and Cherokee County Courthouse to area voters who had a chance to get acquainted with the candidates and get motivated for the upcoming election Nov. 2.

A estimated 150 people came to hear the night's guest speaker was Republican nominee for Iowa Attorney General Brenna Findley, and music was provided by sisters Carrie and Stacie Stoelting of Cherokee.

Among the Republican candidates who appeared at the event were Bill Anderson, candidate for Iowa State Senate; Barbara Grassley for her husband Senator Chuck Grassley; Brenna Findley, candidate for Iowa Attorney General; U.S. Representative Steve King; Iowa State Representative Dan Husman; Jeff Simonsen, Cherokee County Supervisor; David Jamison, candidate for Iowa State Treasurer; Hedgie Brandt, Cherokee County Treasurer; Kim Reynolds, candidate for Lt. Governor with Terry Branstad; Mark Leeds, Cherokee County Supervisor; Ryan Kolpin, Cherokee County Attorney; and Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Bill Northey.
