KINGSLEY - The Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn/Remsen-Union cross country teams ran strong at last week's Kingsley-Pierson/Woodbury Central/Lawton-Bronson Invitational here, with the Eagle girls placing 5th in the rugged competition, and the boys placing 7th.
Anna Wilcox paced the MMC-RU girls by medaling in 14th place in a time of 19:24, followed by Kelsey Sears 27th in 20:49, Brianna Wilberding 29th in 20:56, Kelsey Brady 37th in 22:37, Jeri Welp 39th in 23:15, Christina Wilkens 42nd in 24:45, and Jill Addison 43rd in 25:14.
Derek Reuter led the MMC-RU boys with a varsity medal at 19th place in a time of 20:19, followed by Zack Kellog 26th in 21:05, Mitch Brady 41st in 23:40, Steve Thomson 46th in 25:57, and Tayler Coombs 48th in 26:53.
"It was a good meet for the Eagles. We had 20 runners compete with 11 schools at the meet," said MMC-RU coach Ric Collins.
In girls JV competition, Monica DeLaCruz was 5th in 21:45, while Alissa McDermott was 7th in 24:30, Jillian Letsche 8th in 24:50, and Mallory Roseen 10th in 25:05, all earning JV medals.
For the JV boys, Eagles Ben Brady was 3rd in 22:08, and Kyle Arndt 9th in 24:33, also earning medals.
Casey Wurth (24:52) and Sara Peters (27.11) also ran the course well for MMC-RU JV, according to Collins.
