The Cherokee Fire and Rescue Department unveiled a new concrete statue this weekend as a memorial to former Chief Jack Olson. The statue was placed in front of the fire station and welcomes visitors to the station. Olson served as a volunteer fireman of the CFRD for 39 years and was Cherokee's Fire Chief from 1990 to 2007, and passed away in July. The CFRD will be hosting an open house for the community on Friday as part of Fire Prevention Month. They will starting the day off by hosting the Cherokee Chamber of Commerce Coffee at 9:30 a.m. Photo by Mike Leckband
