MMC-RU XC squads place 3rd

HAWARDEN - The Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn/Remsen-Union boys and girls cross country teams each placed third in the Class B competition at last week's West Sioux Invitational here.

In the boys Class B field, Le Mars Gehlen won the team title with 28 points, followed by Westwood 48, MMC-RU 83, Hinton 94, and West Sioux 96.

Gehlen also won the girls Class B title with 24 points, followed by Hinton 28, and MMC/RU 68.

The Eagle boys laned three runners in the top 15 to earn medals, including Derek Reuter 7th in 20:43, Zack Kellog 10th in 21:50, and Ben Brady 15th in 22:16. Also for MMC-RU, Miych Brady clocked 23:58, Steve Thomson 24:10, and Kyle Arndt 25:25.

Anna Wilcox paced the MMC-RU girls, placing 8th in 18:39 for a medal, followed by Monica DeLaCruz 16th in 20:59, Sami Tentinger 20th in 21:12, Kelsey Brady 22:57, Alissa McDermott 24:30, Christina Wilkens 24:59, Jeri Welp 26:12, Mallory Roseen 26:56, and Jill Addison 26:58.

"We put together some good team scores for both varsity girls and boys even though we were missing people that can help us," said a pleased MMC-RU coach Ric Collins.
