Harvey G.Allen, 77, of Cherokee, passed away Wednesday morning, Oct. 13, 2010 in the Cherokee Regional Medical Center following a lengthy illness with Alzheimer's. Memorial services will be held on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee. Pastor Renee AuMiller will officiate. It was Harvey's wish to be cremated. Burial of the remains will be in the Good Hope Cemetery, rural Cherokee. There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 a.m. at the funeral home on Saturday. Visitation will be on Friday from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. with the family present from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Online condolences can be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com
Harvey Allen was born on March 14, 1933 at Cherokee, to Harold & Edith (Edwards) Allen. Harvey attended Quimby Schools. He was married to Rosalie Boothby on Sept. 16, 1963. He drove taxi in Cherokee for several years, was a delivery man for Ryden's Cleaners in Cherokee,, and worked for the Cherokee County Road Dept. for many years, retiring in 1995. He enjoyed spending time with his family, fixing bicycles, riding his motorcycle, going to stock car races, feeding squirrels and birds ,and spending time with his dogs. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Donald Allen; a brother , Dale D. Allen in 1996 ; and an infant brother and sister.
Harvey is survived by his wife Rosalie; his children, Kathy Sutter and her fiancÈ, Howie Schultz of Cherokee, Terry (Larry) Sherman of Park Rapids, Minn., Dick (Connie) Allen of Sioux City, Jim (Kim) Allen of Dakota City, Neb, Tim (Katie) Miller of Creston, Ill., Lori (Dan) Hansen of Cherokee, Kim (Paul) Dierenfeld of Cherokee, and Shelly Allen and her special friend Todd Hatch of Cherokee; a daughter-in-law, Paula Allen of Whitewright, Texas; 12 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
