Mary Kellen, Tom Kellen, Stan Sitzmann and Naomi Kellen will again head up the Needy Children's Fund Drive.
Cherokee's Stan Sitzmann has been running a fundraiser for Needy Children for 40 years now, assisted by many friends, including Mary and Tom Kellen and Naomi Kellen, who have been helping Stan for the last 21 years.

They will be selling raffle tickets door-to-door in Cherokee and the surrounding communities in the coming weeks, and a raffle will be held on Saturday, Dec. 18 at the Brightside Lounge in Cherokee.

Marcus resident and Major League Baseball umpire Bruce Dreckman and his wife Danae will again be selling the tickets in Marcus, when Bruce returns to town from his current assignment in the National League Championship Series.

The cost of one ticket is $1, and gives you a chance to win one of three prizes at the Dec. 18th raffle. First prize will be $300 worth of groceries, second prize is $100, and third prize is $50. Buying five tickets not only wins you a chance to win a raffle prize, but you also receive an Iowa Lottery ticket, which, of course, gives the bearer of the ticket a chance to win even more loot.

On the day of the drawing, there will be also be an auction, where those present can bid on many nice items which were generously donated by area merchants.

The money raised from the raffle ticket sales, as well as that from the winning auction bids, will go to help up to 150 needy area children by purchasing a nice outfit of clothing for each child.
