Gehlen gouges MMC, 67-21

MARCUS - Trevor Bouma carried the ball 12 times for 164 yards and four touchdowns to lead sixth-rated Le Mars Gehlen to a resounding 67-21 Class A District win over Marcus-Meiden-Cleghorn here Friday night.

All told, the 7-1 Jays rushed 25 times for 334 yards and six TDs, and quarterback Taylor Wurth completed 4-11 passes for 136 yards and two TDs, and QB Blake Wiltgen was 1-2 passing for 19 yards and a TD.

Jordan Langel rushed 7 times for 91 yards and two TDs for Gehlen, while Michael Whitehead caught a TD pass for 48 yards, Alec Mousel caught a TD pass for 50 yards, and Eric Loutsch caught two passes for 57 yards and one TD.

MMC tallied two TDs on passes, with quarterback Tanner Utesch completing 23-41 passes for 237 yards and two TDs. Utesch also rushed 11 times for 66 yards and one TD in the game. He completed 10 passes to Neal Bunt for 122 yards and a TD, and two passes for 28 yards to Zach Specht for one TD.

The Eagles rushed 16 times for 94 yards against the tough Gehlen defense.

Nathan Zubrod led MMC in tackles with seven, while Lee Hueser and Bunt totaled six apiece, and Specht four.

Mitchel Flack, Langel, and Bouma paced the Jays on defense with five tackles each.

MMC (3-5) plays at Woodbury Central (5-3) Friday night to end regular season play.
