Matt and Julie Schubert began their plans to add a second location for their business this past spring in the Marcus Business Park. An open house for the public will be held this Sunday from 1-4 p.m. at the new funeral home. Refreshments will be served and they are hoping many will come to see the home and welcome them to Marcus.
L & L Construction, Loren and Lynn Mohning, was the main contractor for the 30 x 72 foot facility. The interior walls have a light mocha color with cherry wood finished on the woodwork. The vestibule has large ceramic tile square flooring, as do both bathrooms and family room. Attractive area rugs are centered in each of these rooms.
The family room will have comfortable attractive furniture where one may view videos on a large screen TV. A second TV is situated in the chapel. The chapel can easily seat 125, with wood frame stackable chairs with vinyl tan cushions picking up the colors of the tweed carpet.
The cement parking area is generous. Various trees have been planted, including maple and colorful crab apple. Grasses and flowers will also be planted to add to the landscaping as the fall weather permits. They are now busy completing the finishing touches.
In visiting with Schubert, he was quick to note that he plans on operating his home with a personalized service and treat folks as though they are family. Most times it is the small things that make the difference to get one through a highly emotional time.
Several community members have noted the Schuberts in various businesses as they want to participate in local activities and to get to know area families. When they say they are community minded, they mean it.
Shubert offers an active website, greenwoodschubertfuneralhome.com, where folks place their video tributes and sentiments which is added on to what is there. One may call 712-376-4886 for more information.
Local people will be employed as needed. The Schuberts are hoping that folks will meet them Sunday afternoon for a tour and enjoy some refreshments with them.
