PAULLINA - Matt Finch rushed eight times for 83 yards and two touchdowns to lead 10th rated Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn to a 48-6 Class 1A District football win over South O'Brien here Friday night.
Hawk quarterback Justin Wohlert carried the ball five times for 104 yards and one TD, and Josh Treybal rushed seven times for 21 yards and a TD for HMS.
The 7-1 Hawks also scored three TDs in the air, with Wohlert completing 2-3 for 19 yards, and QB Cade Harvey completing 4-5 for 122 yards. Catching TD passes for the Hawks were Wohlert, Cody Leng, and Treybal.
South O'Brien scored one TD, with Austin Rohrs carrying the ball ti paydirt on a five-yard scamper. The Wolverinjes could muster just 83 yards on the ground on 32 carries, with John Gray rushing 11 times for 21 yards, Matt Williams nine times for 16 yards, Austin Wise two times for 16 yards, and Sam Weber one time for 16 yards.
SOS QB Adam Paulsen completed two pases for just 10 yards and had three interceptions, with Wohlert, Treybal, and Finch picking those passes off.
Tanner Matthews, Gray, and Austin Richter led the SOS defense with six tackles each, while Kody Nelson and Ben Wagner registered five apiece, and Paulsen and Tim Jenness four each.
Greg Hegstad had 13 tackles to lead HMS on defense, while Finch tallied 10, Logan Rozeboom seven, and Leng six.
South O'Brien (3-5) ends regular season at Sioux Central (3-5) Friday night.
